App Development

An app makes sense when people need to get something done on the go, regularly or directly on their device: logging jobs, working offline, using the camera or GPS. That’s why good app development starts with a question: is an app the right choice, or would a web application do the job?

We don’t just build apps for clients; we build our own. Better Window Switcher is a native 3D switcher for windows and browser tabs on macOS, sold as a one-time purchase. Krace is a rally-style co-driver app for Android that calls out upcoming corners, timed to your speed.

With these products we own the entire journey ourselves: concept, development, testing on real devices, release and maintenance. That experience goes into your app project, and we’re happy to run it in English or German.

What our app development covers

01

Native Android apps

Apps written in Kotlin when performance, sensors or deep system integration matter. Our own app Krace taught us what GPS tracking and offline use demand in practice.

02

iOS and cross-platform apps

With React Native and Expo, one codebase becomes an app for iPhone and Android. That saves effort in both development and maintenance.

03

Desktop applications

Software for Windows and macOS, such as tools for the office, warehouse or workshop. With Better Window Switcher, we brought a native macOS app written in Swift to market ourselves.

04

Backend and APIs

The servers, databases and APIs your app uses to sync data and connect to your existing systems.

05

Release

We handle store listings, code signing and the review processes for Google Play and the App Store, or distribution inside your company.

06

Maintenance and updates

New OS versions, changing store policies, bug reports: we keep your app current after launch.

Better Window Switcher showing open Mac windows as 3D cards with the active Chrome window in front

Better Window Switcher

macOS 14 or later · native Swift

Every window and browser tab in 3D, one shortcut away.

Better Window Switcher replaces the macOS app switcher. Every open window and browser tab appears as a 3D card, and a few keystrokes take you straight to the one you need. Built natively in Swift, notarized by Apple, no account required, one-time purchase. More than 800 downloads since launch.

Krace

Android · native Kotlin

Know the road. Feel the drive.

Krace reads the road ahead and calls every corner out loud in rally style, timed to the speed you are actually driving. Plan routes in the app or import them from GPX files and Google Maps, then drive them offline on GPS alone.

Typical app projects

Field service and mobile data capture

Your staff log jobs, photos or readings on site, even without a signal. The data syncs as soon as they’re back online.

Customer apps

Bookings, orders or service requests in an app, with push notifications instead of email blasts.

An app as your product

Want to bring your own app to market? We help you define the scope of the first version and build it all the way to release.

Desktop tools

Software that runs locally, talks to hardware or crunches large amounts of data, where a browser reaches its limits.

  1. Step 1

    Free initial consultation

We clarify your audience, core features and platforms, and whether an app or a web application is the better fit.

  2. Step 2

    Concept and clickable prototype

We sketch screens and flows and agree on them with you as a clickable mockup before the heavy coding starts.

  3. Step 3

    Iterative development

You get test builds on your own device early and give feedback. Features are added step by step.

  4. Step 4

    Release

We prepare the release and see it through store review or internal distribution at your company.

  5. Step 5

    Ongoing support

Updates for new OS versions, bug fixes and new features, long after the first release.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Native or cross-platform: which is better?

It depends on the project. React Native gives you one shared codebase for Android and iOS, which is the more economical choice for many business apps. Native development pays off when an app relies heavily on sensors, background processes or platform-specific features. We recommend whichever option fits your requirements and budget.

How long does it take to build an app?

The main factors are the number of platforms, the feature set, whether you need your own backend and how many systems it connects to. App store review adds time as well. We recommend launching a first version with the essential features and expanding it based on real usage.

What drives the cost of an app?

Platforms, features, design effort, backend and integrations, offline support and maintenance after launch. On top of that come the fees for Apple and Google developer accounts. After the free initial consultation, you receive a proposal with a fixed price for the agreed scope, itemized so you can follow it line by line.

Who owns the app?

We recommend publishing the app under your own developer account. You receive the source code and the usage rights to run and extend it; the details are set out in the contract.

Do you maintain the app after launch?

Yes. Apple and Google release new OS versions every year and keep updating their policies. We keep your app compatible, fix bugs and build new features. We do the same for our own products.

How do you handle privacy and GDPR in apps?

The app requests only the permissions it actually needs and skips unnecessary tracking services. Data sent to a server can be stored in German data centers. We also help you prepare the privacy disclosures that Google Play and the App Store require. We’re happy to go through these points with you in person or, if you prefer, over a video call, in English or German.

Planning an app?

Tell us about your idea in a free initial consultation, in person at your office in the Ruhr area or Düsseldorf, or over video if you prefer. We’ll tell you which platform and scope make sense for launch.
