Software development for businesses in Essen

Essen is home to major corporations, a large energy sector and a strong healthcare industry. We handle software development, websites and apps for the companies in between: mid-sized firms, service providers, medical practices and startups.

Essen

Four DAX companies have their headquarters in Essen: E.ON, RWE, Brenntag and HOCHTIEF. They shape the city’s image, yet more than 85 percent of Essen’s workforce is employed in services, next to a broad base of mid-sized firms and nearly 2,000 healthcare and social-care businesses. Our software development in Essen is built for exactly these companies, from internal tools to websites and mobile apps.

If your clients are large corporations, you know what they expect: clean interfaces, audit trails, IT security and documentation someone can actually follow. If you care for patients, privacy cannot be an afterthought. We plan for both from the first draft instead of bolting them on right before launch.

Our office is in southeastern Mülheim, about 12 km (7.5 miles) from downtown Essen. We are glad to come to you in person for meetings, workshops and sign-offs, whether you are in Rüttenscheid, Kettwig or Altenessen, and video calls are always an option if you prefer them. Projects run in English or German, and you deal directly with the three founders who write your code.

Essen’s economy: energy, healthcare and services

Essen is home to roughly 23,900 companies and branch offices. Eight of Germany’s 100 largest companies by revenue are headquartered here, including thyssenkrupp and Evonik alongside the DAX names. Well-known mid-sized firms such as ifm electronic, opta data and ista are based in the city too.

If you work as a supplier, service provider or partner to large organizations, their requirements for software, data exchange and IT security come with the contract, no matter how small your own team is. That is where a development partner who understands both sides pays off.

01

Energy and greentech

Around 250 energy companies and institutions are based in Essen, including E.ON, RWE and Open Grid Europe, and the city’s economic development agency is actively growing its greentech profile. Around this sector, we see demand for data analysis, customer and partner portals, and prototypes for new business models.

02

Healthcare

About 52,800 people work in healthcare and social care, and the city’s economic development agency calls healthcare Essen’s strongest industry. University Medicine Essen has been pursuing its Smart Hospital strategy since 2015. Practices, home care services and health service providers need privacy-compliant workflows, digital records and IT that stays out of the way.

03

Business services

Consulting and information and communication technology are among Essen’s defining service industries. Typical needs are client portals, automated document workflows and a website that holds its own next to large clients.

04

Construction and industry

The construction group HOCHTIEF is headquartered in Essen, and industry, including electrical engineering, chemicals and machinery, generates about 22 percent of the city’s economic output. For construction and trade businesses, mobile apps for site reports, measurements and defect tracking are a natural fit.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Will you come to our office in Essen?

Yes, gladly, for any kind of meeting. From our office in southeastern Mülheim, downtown Essen is about 15 minutes away, and Bredeney and Kettwig are even closer. Introductions, workshops, training or a review of the latest build: we get in the car and come to you. If you prefer, we handle day-to-day questions by video or phone.

We provide services to a large corporation. Can you meet their IT requirements?

In many cases, yes. Typical requirements cover interfaces, authentication and permissions, hosting location, logging and documentation. We ask for the requirements up front, review them, and tell you plainly what we can cover and where your client’s IT team needs to be involved.

Do you work with medical practices and healthcare providers?

Yes, from websites and internal tools to IT infrastructure. With health data, we clarify early on what data is processed, where it is stored and which data processing agreements are needed, and we host in German data centers. If software qualifies as a medical device, additional regulatory obligations apply, and we raise that before any work starts.

Our team is international. Can we run the project in English?

Yes. Meetings, documentation and the software itself can be entirely in English or set up in both languages. That makes things easier for international teams and for corporate clients whose project language is English.

Do you work with companies in the energy sector?

Yes, mainly with smaller firms and service providers in the sector: data analysis, customer and partner portals, or a prototype for a new offering. We don’t rebuild established industry systems such as billing or energy data management; we connect to them through the interfaces they already provide.
